About CAPASUS

The Chinese-American Academic and Professional Association in Southeastern United States (CAPASUS) was formerly established in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 25, 1977.  As distinguished guests, Mr. Cheng-chiou Pan (潘振球主委), the Minister of National Youth Commission, Executive Yuan, Dr. Yang-Hsiung Chao (趙仰雄代辦), a representative of the Embassy of Republic of China in the United States, and Mr. Hsi-fan Chen (陳錫蕃總領事), the Consul General in Atlanta Office also attended the very first meeting.  The mission of CAPASUS is to promote scholarly exchange of knowledge and experiences and, furthermore, to make contributions to the societies of the United States and the Republic of China through the networks of its members and the activities of the organization.

Currently, CAPASUS consists of more than 200 members who are professors from academic institutions or professionals in the fields of arts and humanities, education, engineering, laws, medicine, and science etc.  They are from the eight states of the southeastern U.S., including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.  The annual conference held in summer is one of the Association’s major activities.
